Walking to Benefit Children’s Tumor Foundation

My children, ages 9 and 11, and I are walking in a 5k walk to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The walkathon is designed to raise awareness and funds for research and to support those affected by Neurofibromatosis (NF), a neurological disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerve endings. My children have NF. I am walking in honor of my children and all other children with NF. Right now there is no cure for NF and I am walking to help change that.

The first thing my children did when I told them I was going to walk was empty their piggy banks and sponsor me. Then my children asked to walk as well so we formed a team. They have set a goal to raise $2,000 for our team which we call “Full of Hope”. If you could please sponsor our team or even join our team. My children are hoping to see a cure for NF. I am proud that as young as they are they approach this with such a proactive, mature and positive outlook.

It is not easy to live with the uncertainty of NF, I know, I have it too. What is even harder though, is your children having NF. The funds we raise will go towards research for a cure and support for children and families affected by NF.

The walk is on Oct 4, on Staten Island, NY. This is the day before the NYC Affiliate Summit so if you are in town you can join us. If you’d like to join us let me know, we’d be honored to have you join our team and walk. It is only 5K and everyone is welcome, adults and children.

If you can, please sponsor us at http://ctf.org/walk/donate.html After entering donation amount – For box “My donation is given” select Support a Team from drop down then in “Enter recognition Name” type in Full of Hope.

My children really want to meet their goal. They’ve gotten some donations from friends and neighbors but still have a way to go. I want them to see that hope and their actions can accomplish great things. Thanks for any help in keeping strong their hope for a cure.
